Library

The main library is housed in purpose built accommodation at the museum in Leeds, and collects material on the history and use of personal arms and armour, and other related subjects.

There are also special collections of early books on fencing and the art of warfare, manuals on military small arms, catalogues of arms and armour sales, and a large picture library comprising black and white prints and colour transparencies.

There are also libraries at the Tower of London which, collects material on the history of the Tower of London and its institutions, including the Board of Ordnance. And at Fort Nelson which, collects material on the history and development of artillery and fortification, and includes special collections of early books, handbooks, and drill manuals.

There is also a small reference collection of books and pamphlets on arms and armour at both of these sites.
